  • Walk-In Tutoring: Visit the Jaguar Tutoring & Writing Center any time during our regular hours to consult with a tutor. There is a high demand for tutoring and you may need to schedule in advance.
  • Scheduled Tutoring: Students can make an appointment with a tutor. Call or email the Jaguar Tutoring desk in the Library or make one using the TracCloud icon in PortalGuard sign on. 
  • Virtual Tutoring: To learn more about virtual tutoring, please visit the ThinkingStorm page.
  • Workshops: The Jaguar Tutoring & Writing Center offers several scheduled workshops on a number of subjects. Please refer to the “Workshops” page for more information.

The Jaguar Writing Portal is a FREE writing tutorial service available to all JCC students.

  • It’s not just for English! The writing portal tutors will review writing assignments on any subject or for any class.
  • It’s 24 /7! The writing portal tutors' goal is to return reviewed drafts within 48 hours, excluding holidays.
  • It’s not proofreading! The writing portal tutors will not edit or fix drafts. But the tutor will make suggestions about improving a student draft through clarification and explanation.
  • If you would like more detailed feedback or assistance with your work, you may either call 919-209-2117, or email jcctutoringcenter@johnstoncc.edu to schedule a 1:1 appointment with a writing tutor.

Our Financial Aid team is here to assist you in financing your academic journey.

This fund provides one-time emergency funding to curriculum and continuing education students facing an unforeseen financial crisis. The program provides up to $500 per academic year, for up to four years, paid directly to vendors on behalf of the student or in the form of gift cards given directly to the student. 


Eligible expenses include: Car repairs/insurance, childcare, food, gas, internet, medical expenses, rent, and utilities. 

We strive to empower and support students who are facing difficulties that interfere with life and academic success.

We offer a valuable resource to all students and their immediate family members known as MYgroup, our student assistance program. MYgroup offers help for personal, professional or school concerns by providing free and confidential counseling.

The Accessibility Services Office provides academic accommodations to support students with disabilities and addresses the specialized needs of students who have special health conditions, or disability considerations.

Our goal is to ensure all qualified students have equal opportunity and access to all programs and facilities.

At JCC, we promote intentional involvement, facilitate leadership development, and encourage student growth. We deepen the experience through enriching student organizations, offering transformative leadership programs, advising campus programming, and challenging and supporting student leaders. We work together with student organization advisors and campus/community partners to advance a student-centered co-curricular experience socially, culturally, academically, and mentally.

Whether you’re looking to earn a credential, transfer to a university, or just get your educational journey underway, JUMP is a great opportunity for first-year students! Get one-on-one encouragement and guidance from a dedicated and trained staff or faculty member during your first year at JCC.

A dynamic program aimed at empowering first-year and first-time JCC students through purposeful engagement and resource connection. Our mission is to propel minoritized male students along their academic pathway, encouraging the utilization of academic resources and promoting active campus participation.

Our center is an on-campus child care facility open for the community and students. We accept children ages 12 months - 5 years. 

Eligible JCC students qualify for financial assistance in the program.


Hours: M-F from 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

The Elevation Market is where students can receive free food and professional clothing at JCC. Everything supplied in the market is donated by generous members of the community. Elevation Market is supported by the TRIO committee. Students must schedule an appointment to visit.
